Sample Assignments
Explore a curated selection of my coursework tasks in instructional design. These samples demonstrate various skill levels and provide insight into my approach to creating effective learning experiences.
Showcasing Instructional Design Projects
Discover the practical application of instructional design principles through these sample assignments. Each project is designed to be informative and showcase a commitment to quality learning experiences.
Designing a Mind Map for an ID Model
I provided a lesson design on atomic structure using the universal design for learning approach. The construction of my design was based on the 3 principles - representation, action & expression, and engagement. This provided insights on how I could make instruction more inclusive for a diverse group of learners, so they could take charge of their own learning. See my student's structure of the atom above. This atomic model is Lithium-7 isotope, and was constructed with fruit loops cereal
The Opportunities and Challenges of Collaborative instructional design
I scheduled a virtual meeting with my instructor, and we discussed opportunities and challenges in instructional design. My synchronous discussion with my instructor was noteworthy as I got to learn some opportunities and challenges in instructional design. The opportunities include the importance of diversity in getting vast perspectives while working on an instructional design, acquiring more knowledge and applying that knowledge. The challenges include the occurrence of broken links which need to be fixed, and the struggles with using Basecamp – a software tool. It was interesting to learn that my instructor led in the design of ID 8900 and ID 8910
To Create an Instructional Design Best Practices Poster
The objective of this activity is to discuss the best practice elements of each instructional design example selected and prepare a brief overall commentary of the project. Ekoto and Wa-Mbaleka (2024) give examples of instructional design best practices to include: doing a thorough needs analysis before designing a course, using varied ways of presenting information, and consistency in the design of the modules of a course. Five instructional design examples, along with their instructional design models, were evaluated for adherence to best practices. The results of the evaluations were used to design a best-practices poster.
